Community Services (Recreation & Senior Divisions)

Salem Community Services DepartmentThrough our dedicated staff and volunteers the Salem New Hampshire Community Services Department provides recreational, healthful, and educational experiences. We provide services for all age groups (young children to senior citizens), through the various programs offered.

We are the opportunity to connect with other people. Get involved in many recreational, socialization and exercise programs offered. Within our department there are two essential programs, Senior Services, and Recreation services.

We are located within the Russell and Roberta Ingram Senior Center on 1 Sally Sweet's Way. The facility is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Fridays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, depending on holidays, and COVID related actions.

Recreation Division

The Recreation Division is responsible for Youth and Adult Recreation Programming, Hedgehog Park Summer Operations, Palmer Pre-School and Department Special Events. Additional responsibilities include providing staff support for the Recreation Advisory Committee, Field of Dreams, and the Special Olympics organizations. The Recreation Division is also responsible for coordinating parks facility usage, assisting youth leagues and management of the Park System Capital Improvement Plan.

Senior Services Division

The Senior Services Division is responsible for the Senior Center operations, Senior Services Programming, Senior Outdoor Activities and Senior Trips. Additionally, staff coordinates the efforts of over 170 senior volunteers.
