Town Council
As per Section 1.2 of the Town Charter, Salem shall be governed by a Town Council - Town Manager form of government and the legislative body shall be an Official Ballot Town Council in accordance with RSA 49-D:3, I-a.

Budget Committee
The Budget Committee serves in an advisory capacity and reviews the proposed operating budgets, capital, and warrant articles for the Town of Salem and the Salem School District.

Historic District Commission
The Historic District Commission is responsible for developing an inventory for the identification and protection of the historic properties in the Town, including areas, buildings, monuments, sites, burial grounds, and structures.

Recreation Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Recreation Advisory Committee is to make recommendations to the Community Services Director and Board of Selectmen regarding plans, policies, programs, and projects relating to parks, facilities, and recreational activities.

The Road Committee shall serve as an advisory board and make recommendations to the Board of Selectmen on town wide road improvements.

The three Supervisors of the Checklist are elected officials serving the voters of the Town of Salem, NH each with terms of six years.

Trustees of Trust Funds
The three Trustees of the Trust Funds are elected officials who are authorized by NH State Statute (RSA 31:19-38-a) to administer various non-expendable trust funds created by gifts and legacies to the town.
