Project Details

The Town of Salem has an ongoing construction effort on various neighborhood streets according to the 10-year Road program. Survey and design for the roads begins the year prior to the construction effort. Each road is examined for deficiencies in safety, access, maintenance, drainage and general roadway standard design conformance. Every road presents its own set of challenges in order to provide the residents and Town the best possible product. Generally, road reconstruction efforts in the neighborhoods are relatively simple. The existing paved surfaces are ground up with the base gravels and the resultant material is shaped and prepped for for a new paved surface. Unserviceable drainage is replaced and some supplemental drainage is added to aid in protection of the new road surface. Each street incorporates minor drainage improvements, reclamation of the existing pavement, re-grading the roadway, and repaving. The project reconstruction efforts generally begin in early spring and extend through the construction season. The 2023 road list is Brook Hollow Drive, Gordon Avenue.
