Employee of the Month

Do you know a co-worker who has shown outstanding performance or has made a significant contribution to your team? Now, there is a way to show your appreciation! The employee recognition program is designed to promote team spirit and a positive work environment. The Town of Salem highly regards the strength or our employees, teams, departments, and will continue to support efforts to cultivate a positive work environment.

Criteria: Nominations should be made for exceptional performance and/or contributions made by a co-worker in activities that fall under the following areas: exceptional internal and/or external customer service, exceptional teamwork, creativity & innovation, going beyond the call of duty, and being a flexible team member. While nominee’s do not need to achieve each established criteria, however, the selected award recipient will be based on the highest score.

Nominations: To nominate a co-worker, complete a nomination form can be hand delivered or emailed to hr@salemnh.gov and/or anonymously submitted using this Microsoft form. The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) will use this form to evaluate and score nominees as part of the selection process used in determining the employee of the month award recipient. All nomination forms will be kept confidential.

Reward: One (1) award will be given each month. The nominated employee will receive one (1) paid day off and will be recognized in the Town’s social media channels. The Employee of the Month recipient may elect not to have their photo taken and/or used or publicly recognized on the Town’s social media channels by emailing hr@salemnh.gov. This request must be requested when the recipient is notified of being selected for the Employee of the Month award.

Program Rules: To be eligible for the award, all nominees must be active employees at the time the award is given. The selected employee of the month will be awarded the equivalent to one (1) PTO day off does not have a cash out value and must be used within 12 months from date of receipt. from date of receiving this award. A town-wide communication announcing this new program is being prepared for dissemination next week. Please note: the Employee of the Month winner cannot be nominated again within twelve (12) months of receiving this award. Furthermore, all nominations received for this program will be retained on file for twelve (12) months from the date of receipt, as nominations may as used for future consideration within the same 12-month period.

All nomination forms must be received in the Department of Human Resources by no later than 5 p.m. the third Thursday of each month. The winner will be announced by the Town Manager, Joseph R. Devine to all staff via e-mail by the first Friday of each new month.
