The Town of Salem presents a special series of three video discussions related to the upcoming New Police Station project below.
Part 1: Preconstruction and Planning
This first video features Municipal Services Director Roy Sorenson discussing what has gone into the proposed project so far and what is involved in the pre-construction and planning process.
Roy is joined by Marc Lehoullier from Trident Project Advantage Group, who is the Owner's Project Manager for the Police Station project. Keith Kelley from Harvey Construction, the selected Construction Manager of this project, also joins Roy and Marc in this discussion. Roy, Marc, and Keith discuss their roles as the Owner’s Project Manager and Construction Manager. Trident and Harvey Construction each have a wealth of experience given their positive track record with the school renovation projects in recent years.
They dive into the reality of escalating building costs, how to plan a building to last for the next fifty years, and why a new Police Station is the best and most sustainable solution. The group of three also discuss how logistics plans will help the project come in on budget.
Part 2: Current Conditions and Building for Modern Policing
This second video focuses on the conditions of the current police station and how the new project builds for the needs of modern policing in mind.
Municipal Services Director Roy Sorenson speaks with Police Chief Joel Dolan and Deputy Chief Shane Smith. The group of three discuss the Police Department's recent CALEA accreditation, the inadequate space in the current police station, and more in-depth characteristics of the proposed new Police Station.
Part 3: Financial Impact
In this final video, Municipal Services Director Roy Sorenson speaks with Finance Director Nicole McGee. Roy and Nicole discuss in-depth as to the proposed financial plan as to how the Town will pay for the new Police Station project. They also discuss the process the MBAC Finance subcommittee went through, how the project will impact the tax rate, and all other aspects of the financial impact of the new Police Station.
